Dear Grandad

As I was not fit to fly to the US for Granddad’s funeral,  we held our own service in UK at the same time so at least he had 2 services in the 2 countries he loved.

I wrote a letter to him and we sent it up to heaven in a wishing lantern.

I was so privileged to read out his service with a few of my most favourite people.

Missing you always

You never said I’m leaving
You never said Goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why.

A million times I needed you
A million times I cried,
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still,
In my heart I hold a place
That only you can fill.

It broke my heart to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
As a part of me went with you
The day God took you home.

I love you Grandad xxxx

I’m so sorry for your loss. Did you write the poem? It’s beautiful. I heard today that my Aunt passed away this morning, and yesterday that one of my best friends will not be with us very long. It’s such a hard thing to deal with *hugs* I hope you are remembering to look after yourself in this difficult time too. xxx
